In accordance with the rehabilitation-conservation works to be carried out in the Gelati monastery complex, scientists of the international level, of the highest rank, have been invited to the international advisory board.
- The Council is the most important body giving recommendations, advices and notes to the Committee;
- The International Council is obliged to participate in the discussion of all important issues related to the rehabilitation of the Gelati monastery complex and the conservation project and in the formation of a scientific position;
- The members of the International Council, in the process of rehabilitation of Gelati, perform the function of international monitoring - they monitor the ongoing works on the monument.
