On October 10, 2023, a meeting was held in the Gelatin Rehabilitation Committee, to discuss the specific steps for updating the Gelati Management Plan.

Following to the main recommendations given by the joint mission at Gelati site of November 28 - December 2, 2022 of the World Heritage Center and its advisory bodies - ICOMOS and ICCROM, the management plan for the property should be properly updated to guide continuing conservation efforts. Accordingly, particular activities have been planned in this direction.

The meeting was attended by:

• Archimandrite Kirion (Oniani) - Deputy Chairman of the Committee;
• Rusudan Mirzikashvili – Lead of the Gelati Management Plan updating project;
• Zviad shalamberidze - State Representative in Imereti region;
• The Mayor of Tkibuli Municipality – David Chetkezishvili;
• The Mayor of Tskaltubo Municipality – Genadi Balanchivadze;
• The Mayor of Terjola Municipality – Manuchar Robakidze;
• Chairman of Terjola Municipality Assembly – David Gogberashvili.

Actual issues of updating the Gelati management plan were discussed at the meeting, such as - system of land tenure and land management around the monastery complex, use of resources in the buffer zone and others ...

The participants of the meeting agreed that the municipalities will actively participate in updating of the Gelati management plan and for this purpose, at the suggestion of the State Representative of Imereti, specific representatives will be allocated as from the State Representatives' Administration as from municipalities to cooperate with the Gelati Rehabilitation Committee.
