"Members of the International Advisory Council of the Gelati Rehabilitation Committee—Professor Francesca Pique, a conservationist of wall paintings at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, and Lorinda Vongi, a wall painting conservator at the Courtauld Conservation Institute—are on a three-day visit to Gelati.

This time, the main topic of the working meetings is wall painting, which is currently undergoing active conservation work. The council members continuously held meetings with both the leadership of the temporary Gelati Rehabilitation Committee and members of the National Scientific Council, as well as directly with the groups working on the wall paintings on the scaffolding.

At the same time, an international workshop is taking place at the Gelati Monastic Complex aimed at developing the research and monitoring components of the Gelati wall paintings. The theme of the international workshop is “Multispectral Imaging and 3D Photogrammetric Monitoring in the Conservation of Wall Paintings,” and it serves to develop the research and monitoring components of the Gelati wall paintings.
