A field scientific research laboratory was organized on the territory of Gelati monastery complex. The laboratory has created favorable conditions required for the conservation groups to carry out their activities before climbing / and after coming down from scaffoldings, and which conservation groups previously had to do under the open sky or on the scaffoldings.  The laboratory consists of three rooms, two of which are intended for storage of the equipment and materials of the fresco team and mosaic team, and processing of research results, and one room for the coordination meetings of the teams working within the ongoing conservation intervention. field laboratory in Gelati was established with the full support of the Government of Georgia.
